What is Wood Free Offset Paper? A Comprehensive Introduction
In the modern printing and publishing industry, wood free offset paper stands as one of the most widely used and versatile paper types. Commonly referred to as white offset paper or uncoated woodfree paper, this paper is a premium-grade product manufactured from chemical pulp without the inclusion of mechanical (groundwood) pulp. This process results in a smooth, uniform sheet ideal for high-quality printing, writing, and publishing applications.
Despite its name, wood free does not mean the paper contains no wood fibers. Rather, it indicates that the pulp used is free from lignin, a component found in wood that causes paper to yellow and degrade over time. By removing lignin during production, wood free offset paper achieves better durability, printability, and archival properties.
